Republican politicians don't like to talk about it, but the Fundies are quite open about it. The Israelis are only useful to them as placeholders, keeping the lights on, until Judgement Day, when Christians can march back into Jerusalem.

The Israelis know this too. So they play along (they know it's bullshit), because Fundie groups want Israel nice and clean for them when the time comes, and the Israelis are more than happy to take their bucketloads of cash and run.
